| General description | Bizovac Discovery of a pantry with 332 well preserved everyday-use objects from the Middle Bronze Age is the proof that people used to live here in prehistoric times. Written documents mention that in 1333, Bizovac and Ladimirevci had shared a common church devoted to Sts. Cosmas and Damian, which was located in Ladimirevci. Medieval name of the place was Byezafalva in the Karasevo landed property, and it was owned by Order of St. John of Jerusalem. The 1579 Pozega Sandzak Census records mention village of Bisofzy with 8 houses, which belonged to the Osijek Kadiluk and Karas Nahija during the Turkish rule. Since 1721, Bizovac is possessed by Valpovo manorial estate, with 23 households. The parish church of St. Matthew Apostle and Evangelist was built in 1802 in modest baroque-classicist style. Patron saint's day is celebrated on September 21. In the very center of Bizovac, castle of the Valpovo baron family Normann-Prandau is located, built in the first half of the 19th century for the needs of manorial estate clerks and administration. After the marriage of Baroness Marijana Prandau and Count Konstantin Normann, the castle was remodeled for living, and it has been almost entirely preserved in its original form until today. Royal post office was established in 1809, the first mill was built in 1890 and the second in 1910. The first school in Bizovac was founded in 1849. The football club and the firefighting association operate since 1926, and in 1935 branch of the "Seljacka sloga" cultural society was founded. The "Bizovac" folklore society, which has been operating for almost four decades, nurtures the authentic traditional heritage of the Bizovac region. Using the unique, recognizable and distinctive female folk costumes, the society propagates the name of Bizovac performing at folklore events in country and abroad. It is important to mention the following well-known people who were born in Bizovac: Antun Ullrich - gallery operator, Bratoljub Klaich - linguist, Ivo Pavlich - mathematician and Stjepan Glavash - chemist. Thanking to vicinity of the City of Osijek, excellent transport connections, developed crafts, fertile and arable land, trade and tourism potential, after the discovery of hyperthermal water in the seventies of the 20th century, Bizovac has become an attractive place for living for many people.
