General description | Mentioned in the deeds for the first time in connection with the mayrtyrdom of Saint Koloman in 1012 ("Stockaerowe"). In 1465 it became a market, and, in 1893, acquired town status. Good transport connections, excellent shopping possibilities, high quality of life. The landmark is the 88m high tower of the Baroque parish church, which can be seen from far away. In summer, the popular Stockerau festival takes place here every year and is a highlight in Lower Austria's array of festivals. |
